The foundation of MIT Group of Institutions, Pune, rests firmly on the adage of the Great Noble Son of India, Swami Vivekananda's, "Union of Science and Religion/Spirituality alone will bring peace to the mankind" MAEER's MIT Group of Institutions came into existence in the year 1983 with the first private engineering college of Maharashtra. It has been consistently ranked as no.1 institution in Maharashtra. MIT now boasts of more than 63 institutes having over 54000 students shaping their careers in different vocations; right from Primary Education to Post Graduate Programs in varied fields like -Engineering, Medicine, Pharmacy, Management, Government, Food & Technology, Journalism & Broadcasting, Information Technology, Design, Education, Foreign Languages etc. When we founded the World Peace Centre, MAEER's MIT, Pune in 1996, we took a step closer towards trying to bring together science and spirituality with the intention of establishing a 'Culture of Peace in the World'.

India is often referred to as the 'Knowledge Corridor of the World', and can play a major role in the area of union of science and spirituality for world peace. When more and more knowledgeable and motivated youth take active interest in politics, India will be in a position to lead the world in establishing the 'Culture of Peace'.

Establishment of MIT School of Government or MIT-SOG (now a constituent unit of MIT-WPU) was a step taken by us in the direction of providing our country with educated leaders, thoroughly trained in the art and science of governance, and inspired by the right value systems. MIT-SOG is a unique and significant effort that is bound to provide a new direction to the way of governance of the various democratic institutions of this country. I urge all the educated youth of India to be a part of this program, and help shape the future of a strong and vibrant India.
