The MIT School of Government stands as a beacon of hope for nurturing political and governance leadership in a rapidly evolving democracy. Established in 2005 by Dr. Rahul V. Karad under the aegis of MAEER’s MIT Group of Institutions, MIT School of Government was conceived to fill a critical gap in the Indian education system — providing specialized training to aspiring leaders in politics and public administration. Over the years, it has emerged as a pioneering institution dedicated to strengthening the democratic framework of India through education, innovation, and practical engagement.
The MPG is a two-year postgraduate degree program designed to develop informed, ethical, and capable leaders for public life. The program combines academic rigor with practical exposure to governance and policymaking. The first year is conducted on campus and includes classroom sessions, field visits, and study tours, enabling students to build a strong foundation in political systems, public policy, and leadership. The second year is off campus, focusing on immersive internships and professional attachments that provide hands-on experience in political institutions, government bodies, and related organizations.
