Master’s degree program in Political Leadership & Government or MPG is a 2-year Master’s degree program (UGC approved) designed and devised for a select few who are interested in taking up the leadership roles in the area of Politics. For those who wish to pursue career either in Electoral Politics or Functional Politics, this is the program for them to fulfill their goals.
- Students of this course can look forward to work with Leading Political Leaders, Social Leaders and various Government Bodies as Functional Advisors, Strategists & Policy Makers. Beginning a career as back office executives in offices of the Political parties and/or leaders gives detailed insights and experience to grow further as Political Strategists, Analysts and Consultants.
- Students interested in actively pursuing politics, for them the course is an eye opener as they are exposed to all the facets of functioning of Government and the nuances of Politics in India as well as providing them with the much-needed global exposure.
- Strong foundation for civil services aspirants who aspire to play leadership roles in the near future.
- Several leading corporate houses having social wings are interested in recruiting people with this kind of exposure. A career in NGOs as Consultant or at the Advisory level is also a very good option.

What is the Program Structure of Master’s degree program in Political Leadership & Government (MPG)?
First year On-campus Learning .
It includes Classroom lectures by core and visiting faculty, Interactive Sessions by national level eminent leaders from Politics, Social sector, Bureaucracy, Judiciary, Media and Corporate. Apart from classroom teaching Students get hands on experience via Local field visits to Gram Panchayat, Zilla Parishad, Municipal Corporation, State Assembly, Cooperatives and NGOs. Study Tours related to Constituency management, Campaign & Elections management and National Study Tour to Delhi.The academic learning in the first year is focused on the following crucial aspects of Politics -
- Political Management which deals with Verbal & Written communication, advertising & branding, social media management, public relations
- Constituency Management which deals with Development and Management of a constituency may be of a MP, MLA, Corporator, Zilla Parishad member or member of a Gram Panchayat. It prepares them to effectively manage one’s constituency which is core to the development of the concerned region
- Campaign & Elections management is an important focus area as it involves planning w.r.t preparation for an election may be Lok Sabha or State Assembly Elections or Municipal Corporation Council Elections, Zilla Parishad or Gram Panchayat Elections. This aspect also covers the crucial part of campaign planning utilizing Media, Research, Data mining, Data analysis, Psephology
- Public Policy and International Relations are very important focus areas for study of this program
Second year Off-campus training via different internships -
Second year internships is spread across as - Constituency based, Issue based, with NGOs, with Media Houses and Final career based internship with Political parties and/or with Political leaders which helps the students establish themselves firmly in the Political Sector.
These internships provide the necessary where withal for a young dynamic graduate to face the challenges in Politics and carve a niche career in Electoral Politics or be successful in Functional Politics as Political Analyst, Political Consultant, Policy Research Associates, Constituency managers, Campaign & Election Managers, Social Media Strategist, Public Relations officer etc.
Any graduate with min. 50% aggregate from a recognized university can apply for this program by filling online admission form at www.mitsog.org or www.mitwpu.edu.in.
- Descriptive type of Questions based on Current & Political Affairs, General Knowledge & Social Awareness.
- Personal Interview is conducted by the Selection Panel designated by the Governing Council of MIT-WPU. They are aimed at evaluating the candidate's academic knowledge and general awareness. The Interview also aims to assess the aptitude of the candidate and their aspiration.
Admission Confirmation
Once selected via merit list, the selected participant need to pay Rs. 1,00,000/- as the first installment of the total course fee of Rs.3,00,000/- to confirm his/her seat for admission. Second & Third installment of Rs. 1,00,000/- lac each to be paid on or before 15th December 2022 and 15th March 2023 respectively. The parameters for the personal interview are – Communication; Vision/ Objective; Passion/ Attitude; Commitment/ Motivation; Self Confidence; Academic & Analytical ability.
