What are the basic eligibility criteria for admission to MPG program?
Any graduate can apply for the program. Students who have appeared in their final year of degree program from any faculty from a recognized University are also eligible to apply for the program.
Why do I select this program as a career option?
It is a Leadership Program designed and devised for a select few who are interested in taking up leadership roles in the areas of Politics & Government. Their future role may involve an active interaction with government, society and media at various levels.
How is MPG different from a Master's in Political Science?
Masters in Political Science is a theoretical course where there is minimal exposure given to Students towards practical aspects of the functioning of government. Our course focuses on the experiential, facilitative and case study method of learning whereby the students are exposed to a participative mode of learning. The highlights are -
  • Interaction with Eminent Political Leaders, Social Activists, Civil Servants, Academicians, Media persons and Legal Practitioners.
  • Practical inputs will be in the form of a lot of field assignments like - projects on social causes.
  • An optional two weeks International Study tour to give the candidates - the global exposure towards functioning of their parliaments and offices.
  • National Study Tour to Parliament House, Rashtrapati Bhawan and Secretariats.
  • Local tours to State Assembly, Municipal Corporation, Zilla Parishad and Gram Panchayat have been incorporated in the program.
  • Field visits are also arranged to NGOs, Defence Establishment, Model Village, Media House, Co-operative etc.
How many such programs are there in India?
One-year full time "Masters Program in Government" is the only program of its kind in Asia.

What is the process for selection to the Program?
The selection process for MPG-13 comprises of a descriptive type written test followed by a detailed personal interview by the selection panel.
What is the Program Structure like?
One year full time Master's Program in Government (MPG) comprises of different topics starting from the lowest tier of government, the Gram Panchayat to the Parliament. MPG is an experiential learning program where 50 % of the learning is through the classroom lectures and 50% of the learning is through the field visits, study tours & assignments.

What is the Fee Structure?
The Program Fee comprises of two components COURSE FEE (mandatory) and OPTIONALS Course Fee: Rs. 2,50,000/- Payable in 2 installments (it includes cost of field visits, National Study Tour course material & laptop offered by the institute.

What are the documents to be submitted along with the Application Form?
    The Candidate is required to produce following original documents on the day of entrance examination.

What are the parameters for the Interview Process?
Current Parameters for interview - Communication; Vision/Objective; Passion/Attitude; Character; Commitment/Motivation; Self-confidence; Academic ability.
What is the role of interview in the selection process?
Interview process is the vital and decision-making phase for allotment of an MPG seat. The Interviews are conducted by the Selection Panel designated by the Governing Council of MITSOG. They are aimed at evaluating the candidate's academic knowledge and general awareness. The Interview also aims to assess the aptitude of the candidate and their aspiration.
How many seats for the MPG Program are available at MIT-SOG?
MIT-SOG has strength of 120 seats.
Is there any reservation in seats available for MPG program?
No reservations and quotas are applicable. The selection of the students is purely based on the merit only i.e. the performance in the descriptive type written test and the personal interview.
How I will be intimated about my selection in MPG program?
Successful Candidates are informed via phone and email on the same day or the next day of the selection process. Offer Letters are sent within two working days from the date of selection via courier or registered post as applicable.
IMPORTANT DATES- Admissions Open for MPG-13, Apply now! Admission Selection Fee Rs. 1100/- payable at the time of submitting the admission application form (cash is accepted if submitting in person). MPG 13, Course commencement on August 1st 2017, Tuesday.
